Are thin AI wrappers still worth building in 2026?

Everyone says wrappers are dead, yet I keep meeting people running $10K MRR 'ChatGPT for X' apps. My take: the wrapper was never the moat — distribution and workflow depth are. The products dying are the ones that stopped at the prompt. Change my mind.

In smaller markets like Nepal wrappers are still wide open — localization IS the moat. Nobody big is coming for it soon.

The honest framing: you're not selling AI, you're selling a finished workflow. Wrappers fail when the finished part is missing.

Agree. My templates are technically a 'wrapper' around Notion. The value is that I did the thinking the buyer doesn't want to do.
